Nympha and the church in her house” [Colossians 4:15(RSV)]

<b>“Nympha and the church in her house”. </b> We owe it to recent translation to tell us that this name applied to a lady and not a man. Yet we know nothing more about her except that if you know anything about the believers in Colosse you would know there was a gathering in Nympha’s home. Paul knew it and had visited it and was blessed by it and so sent greetings in his Epistle.

The woman still makes the home. How blessed for her when that home is known as a place where the Lord’s people can meet. There is need for homes to be opened up to gatherings of the local church and it is the opportunity for any lady who would do so to be a modern “Mother in Israel” to those who are not so blessed with a Christian environment.
