“the disciples came together to break bread” [Acts 20:7(RAV)]

“the disciples came together to break bread”. It was a time of spiritual refreshment and worship as well as fellowship with one another. Persecution and opposition ensured they looked forward to this occasion.
The disciples would draw great strength from this act of obedience and communication: they would also eagerly anticipate the return of the Lord Jesus whose presence was so real to them. They made it a time of ministry, too – when the Lord could speak to them through His Word. This was in addition to the gifts of the Spirit through which the Body of Christ was edified.
The true church, a real yet invisible body of believers, has never lost the blessings of this meeting around the Lord’s Table. I trust you’re one who enjoys it still.
