“the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha”. I have always been attracted to this widow’s behaviour. She was not too proud to ask for help when she needed it. Her situation was desperate and she quite rightly called for assistance from the circle of godly men in which her late husband moved. The Lord tells us that we should call upon Him in the day of trouble. It is true that the Lord knows all about us and is aware of our condition: also that He promises never to leave us, though at times we may feel we have left Him. Yet we are told to call. What this widow would have missed if she had not called! She would never have seen her empty jars miraculously filled with such provision as enabled her to clear the debt and live. And I wonder what you are missing because you do not call unto the Lord!
