“those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works” [Titus 3:8(RAV)]
November 29
“those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works”. This is wise counsel to all believers. The danger is that the believer mistakenly thinks that faith is all that is needed.
To say I believe and not do anything that faith demands is like advertising my assumed godliness with no product to support it, whereas good works undertaken in the name of the Lord speak more loudly than any spoken profession.
We need good works that spring from our faith. If we do not love our brother, how can we love God? Faith in God is evidenced in love for our fellowmen. With your faith firmly placed on the atoning work of Christ for salvation, for there is salvation in none other, the good that you do today will be directly related to and identifiable with your faith.
The apostle urges us all to be careful to maintain this.
