“Will a man make gods for himself” [Jeremiah 16:20(RAV)]

“Will a man make gods for himself”. Over and again he will! And when they are worn out he will replace them. The following is a short list of the gods man will fabricate. You may wish to add to it :
self another person pleasure
secret sin money attaining fame
anything occupying the throne of our heart.
They may all fill our mind and rule our heart, yet can do nothing of lasting value for us: rather they are our downfall.
Better to be rid of them before the Lord takes more drastic measures to bring us to our senses.
