“a servant girl” [Matthew 26:69(RAV)]

“a servant girl”. She probably never aspired to anything much more than a servant taking orders from others.
But her words caused Peter to fall badly. She said “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth” as he sat outside in her yard. All eyes would be upon him and he denied that he knew Jesus. How he regretted that denial! How he must have appreciated the Lord’s subsequent forgiveness! She may have been but an insignificant servant girl but she played a significant part in Peter’s denial which Jesus had warned him about.
She reminds all who feel of no consequence that the smallest can play a part – one that is vital albeit small. Remember the servant girl in Naaman’s household who spoke up about her faith in the prophet Elisha. What a part she played!
