“God himself shall be with them” [Revelation 21:3]
“God himself shall be with them”. The closing chapters of the Book of Revelation describe a scene that none in this life can really begin to appreciate. We can, however, sense the peace and tranquillity that prevails in these chapters after all the wrath and fury of what we read earlier. Not least among the constituents of this blissful state is this statement that God is with His People. Not just ‘somewhere around’, or in the sense that God is everywhere, but there – visibly with those who because of the clothing of immortality will be able to look upon Him and fully enter into the blessing of His Person.
But their experience is only faith turned to sight. For Jesus told His disciples He was with them always. If His Presence is not felt by faith now it will not be known at all then.
