“Behold, therefore, the goodness and severity of God” [Romans 11:22]

“Behold, therefore, the goodness and severity of God”. It is a common error to think there can be true goodness without severity, just as we may think severity disregards true goodness. The goodness of the Lord is felt by all His creatures – in the life He gives and sustains, in the enjoyment of the world He has created and in the hope of eternal life He gives through His Son, Jesus.
The severity of God can be felt by those who do not appreciate His goodness or do not respond to His loving hand: it will eventually be experienced by all who reject His salvation.
The goodness of the Lord leads a man to repentance. Respond to His goodness offering you forgiveness and you will not incur His severity in wrath against sin.
