“all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps” [Matthew 25:7(NIV)]

<p><b>“all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps”. </b> In Jesus’ Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins, all of them woke up and all trimmed their lamps, that is, they all attempted to be ready. There is a day coming when we shall all wake up – wake up to find there is a judgment after death and that the story of God’s love in Christ coming to save all who believe is true.
All will wake up but all will not be ready. All the virgins had wedding garments and lamps that they trimmed but only half of them were ready with a supply of oil.
It is not enough to look the part of being a Christian, to go through the motions: we need to have Christ – to receive Him, to be born of the Spirit, to have the oil of the Spirit in our lamps.</p>
