“I am like a green olive tree” [Psalm 52:8]
October 27 - November 24
“I am like a green olive tree”. It is not so much that the olive trees in the house of God were green in colour as that they were flourishing and well watered, adding to the glory of God in His temple.
So today in the wilderness and deserts of this life there are those who are like trees planted by the rivers of water. When all is dry on the surface, the roots can go down deep into the truths of God’s word.
These stay green and verdant when all appears dead around them. They have a hidden source of strength and are a blessing to behold. Leaves that have been described as for the healing of the nations: peacemakers in times of war; sympathetic and understanding at all times.
A green olive tree was David’s testimony and we do well if it is ours, fruit-bearing in the house of the Lord.
