“I was afraid” [Matthew 25:25]

“I was afraid”. Some people say anything. The man in this parable with one talent was one of them. Of what was he afraid?
He was lazy – pleasure loving too – for he felt able to please himself once the talent was safely buried.
He was short-sighted. He did not consider the consequence he would face when the lord returned and he had nothing to show for the talent entrusted to him.
Or was he unbelieving, thinking his lord would never return? Did he think his lord was such a person as never to be angry?
You have talents – probably more than one if you think about it – and the Lord the Creator has said He will return to take account.
In this parable Jesus described the man above as wicked and slothful. What will He say about you…and me?
