“it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light” [Zechariah 14:7]

“it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light”. This promise does not apply to the ungodly man who has followed his own desires all his days – his evenings must be very dark.
It is the man for whom evening time brings its special beauty and comfort. It describes the way a soul can gain respite and peace when the storm is passed.
Life has its thunder clouds and storms for us all. We become distressed, depressed and wounded as we struggle to gain a better position. Then we realise that the Lord is in control, that all these matters worrying us are in His hand. The pieces of the puzzle fit together. Faith takes over from fear. We become a fulfilment of Zechariah’s prophecy regarding Israel – at evening we find it is light.
