“Neither was there any among them that lacked” [Acts 4:34]

“Neither was there any among them that lacked”. These words obviously apply to material comforts. When the number making up the Early Church was small this was the case.
Today the picture is somewhat different though persecution in some parts makes brethren glad to adopt the same policy.
Christians are today scattered around the world and time and distance prevent the sort of help that existed in the Early Church. Even so, we must be aware of others’ needs. It is not enough to say we have given help to others: we must ascertain that what we have given is of sufficient help. Though both local and international scenes have changed almost beyond recognition, each of us can still help our brother on a one-to-one basis.
