“they paid no attention” [II Chronicles 33:10(NIV)]

“they paid no attention”. Manasseh and his people paid no attention to the Lord.
Failing to pay attention is a common fault and one that can be quite costly. When it relates to God’s voice, inattention can cost us dearly.
It is a great honour to have God speak to us and those who hear His voice may regard themselves as highly favoured. He speaks lovingly and gently and what He says is for our good. It may be by way of correction or comfort, it may challenge or chide us. But when we, like Manasseh, pay no attention there can but be dire consequences. They are unlikely to be as in Manasseh’s case, when the Assyrian army came against him, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon. But paying no attention to what God says can be equally unpleasant and eternally damning.
