‘Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt? . There will always be those who want to turn back at the first sign of problem or distress. In this case it was a large majority of the Children of Israel that sought this.
Sometimes we fail to advertise the hardships there are in the Christian pathway. We make what is difficult look very attractive. Maybe this increases the number of desertions.
The attraction is the goal at the end of the race, the glory that is to follow the life-long campaign. The attractions of Egypt were real but the prospect they afforded unacceptable. Most of all was the disregard for God’s mighty deliverance and promises He had made. On the high-road to heaven there can be no going back. ‘Forward’ is the command and God’s promise the provision.
