“you will not always have me” [Mark 14:7(NIV)]
March 25
“you will not always have me”. Jesus defended Mary’s action saying that pouring perfume upon His head as He sat at table in a home in Bethany was a beautiful thing to do. All could enjoy the fragrance.
She had taken the opportunity when it was presented to her. The criticism that the perfume could have been sold and the money benefit the poor was dismissed by Jesus because the poor could be helped every day whereas this lady would not have this opportunity every day. Have we our jar of expensive perfume ready – a heart filled with love for Jesus? So that when the Holy Spirit moves us to recognise that Jesus is near, we can be ready to unlock our heart and pour out our expression of love for Jesus and worship the Lord in spirit and truth.
