“a fountain opened … for sin and for uncleanness” [Zechariah 13:1]

“a fountain opened … for sin and for uncleanness”. This prophecy and promise was given to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. This was the chosen people of God that the prophet knew. We now look back to the fulfilment of these words when Jesus died on the cross. His shed blood provided that fountain.
Now we know that fountain to be for whosoever will come and by faith wash in its cleansing stream. The blood of Jesus Christ God’s Son cleanses from all sin. The extent of the sin is no hindrance: it is failure to reach out in faith and confess sin that prevents many coming to the Lord.
It demands that by faith we visit the place called Calvary – that hill known as Golgotha, where Christ died for our sins – and call upon the name of the Lord and be made clean.
