“But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven”. The Holy Spirit did not merely enable Stephen to bravely face the mob that was about to stone him. The indwelling Holy Spirit gave Stephen a vision of heaven. The Holy Spirit will give that same vision to all who look with the eye of faith, whether suffering is little or much.
Heaven is the goal at the end of the race for all who love the Lord Jesus. He has gone into heaven to prepare a place for His followers. He will return to collect His own.
Meanwhile those of His followers who die, sleep in Jesus, as Paul tells us, waiting for that great awakening when saints past and present shall be united with the Lord and dwell with Him forever.
All who love Jesus should be looking up to heaven.
