“Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? ” [Luke 10:40 (RAV)]

“Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? “. Jesus might have been pre-occupied with more important matters, but it’s very unlikely this was the reason. Certainly He may have been wondering what the next step was for Him to take in His ministry. He could have been contemplating the shadow of the Cross which was daily looming greater.
It could be that He was just resting with His eyes closed and had not noticed Mary there, but nothing like this was the case. He was delighted that Mary had joined those who sat at His feet drinking in every word and He wished Martha was there too.
Some things might have to be left occasionally if you are to sit at Jesus’ feet.
