“Master, all these have I observed from my youth” [Mark 10:20]

<b>“Master, all these have I observed from my youth”.</b>  Maximum attendance, paying full attention, committing to memory the Law and the Commandments and applying this to every aspect of his life was not enough.

Perfect in all but one point is to be imperfect. The young ruler’s perfection in so much made him very conscious of his lack – hence his coming to Jesus. In doing so he illustrates that all need to come. And all may find the answer: whether one thing or everything, the Lord will point out what we lack.  The sad thing is that having cleared all but one it was this last hurdle that floored him.

He would not let the Lord touch the one thing that he treasured most. It is our failure the Lord wants to do something about.
