“they … expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly” [Acts 18:26]

“they … expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly”. What a delightful couple Aquila and Priscilla must have been! Apollos was a talented orator and obviously zealous for God. He had a persuasive and winning way that quickly gained him a following. But Aquila and Priscilla, older and more grounded in the faith spotted some quite serious shortcomings in Apollos’ teaching. Instead of making a public issue of these they took Apollos to one side and counselled him. Rather than dampen his enthusiasm, they pointed him to a fuller gospel and made him a better witness thereby.
If you are experienced in the way of the Lord, are you helping beginners? If you have only recently begun and are doing well, are you still teachable? Here is a happy combination that we should see repeated more often today.
