“they rose up in the twilight” [II Kings 7:5]

May 16

“they rose up in the twilight”. They were four lepers living in no-man’s land between the Syrian army and the besieged inhabitants of Samaria.
For them daylight was fading in more ways than one. Yet they realised they faced a choice – stay where they were and starve or go to the Syrian camp and possibly be allowed to live and be fed.
The way they rose up was divinely inspired, for they became the saviours of the city of Samaria. They were not the last to get up and go at the direction of the Spirit when others would have them written off. Everyone can do something and should be looking for opportunity and listening for that inner voice of the Spirit to be obeying the Lord – even in the twilight!
