“about three in the afternoon he had a vision” [Acts 10:3(NIV)]

December 30, 2023

“about three in the afternoon he had a vision”. These words relate to Cornelius. He was a Roman centurion with a devout and God-fearing family and one who gave generously to those in need and who prayed regularly. He was pointing the right way, but needed something more.
A vision of an angel started this for him and the matter concluded with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit after Peter visited his home and preached to them.
Facing the right way and moving forward is good. Yet we need a heavenly vision and the leading of the Spirit of God to bring us to a place of repentance and commitment.
In the Old Testament we read that without a vision the people perish and this is true in the New Testament, too.
Each of us needs a vision of the pathway the Lord has for us and one so real that we cannot mistake it.
