“(Ananias) stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, …’ ” [Acts 22:13(NIV)]

May 7

“(Ananias) stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, …’ “. He was renowned for his hatred and persecution of the followers of Jesus; he supported the stoning of Stephen; he came to Damascus intending to commit disciples to prison. Yet Ananias addressed him, ‘Brother Saul’!
Ananias walked in the Spirit. He recognised that the vision telling him to do this was from the Lord. With some trepidation yet believing the impossible, that Saul was converted, he obeyed. Saul ever remembered Ananias’ visit with gratitude.
We need Ananias’s today – people in touch with the Lord and willing to extend sympathy and help to those who want to begin but can’t get going. Most would have said, ‘Blindness is what you deserve’. Ananias said, ‘Brother Saul, I’ve come that you might see!’
