“my redeemer … shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” [Job 19:25]
June 9
“my redeemer … shall stand at the latter day upon the earth”. Job had a keen spiritual insight. His trouble only served to make this clearer. Divested of all he had, Job dwelt upon the promise of God and the assurance of faith.
Job’s anticipation may have been of Jesus at His First Advent. That was certainly an event to which Job could look forward. For him, salvation was something yet to be effected. His description of the ‘Latter day’ and associating this in the next verse with his own resurrection, may indicate his looking to the Second Advent of Jesus, that will be the occasion when every eye shall see the Son of Man and when He will judge the world.
All men of faith have needed to receive Christ as redeemer. Only through Him can redemption be secured.
