‘to us, or to everyone? ‘. Peter asked this of Jesus’ words when He spoke of being ready because the Son of Man will come at an hour when He is not expected. Each of us needs to hear God speaking to us. When all we read and hear of the gospel message and responsibility is general, it loses its conviction. We hide behind or with everyone else whereas the gospel singles us out.
God’s word may be read by all but it must speak to you.
Whether repentance and forgiveness of sins or obedience to Christ in the path you take, it is God’s word to you that counts. The Holy Spirit conveys the will of God for you. What others will do is another thing.
The word, the promise, the power and enabling are to us. We need to hear, trust and obey.
