“whithersoever the king’s commandment … came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day” [Esther 8:17]

February 8

“whithersoever the king’s commandment … came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day”. The Jews had lived in dread of extermination as a result of the Haman inspired wicked decree. This is not unlike the fear of death that came upon all men as the result of Adam’s sin.
But the King’s commandment that forgiveness and restoration shall be offered to all who will repent and turn in faith to Christ has been carried to all parts of the earth by His servants.
And when accepted, it brings joy and gladness. Sin forgiven, the removal of the curse, deep peace, purpose and satisfaction in living and above all, the presence of the living Lord Jesus brings joy.
Putting God out of mind must bring sorrow and remorse. Be among those who receive God’s Word and know His joy.
